Getting started
It places you on the curriculum. That’s it. About 12 questions, around 8 minutes, no time pressure. The result is a starting point. You can override it any time by jumping to a different unit; the placement isn’t a gate.
Yes. You can opt out and pick anywhere. The whole curriculum is open from day one. The check-in just makes the “begin here” pointer smarter.
Practice and Teach Me This both pull from them. If you say you care about money and travel, problems show up in those flavors. You can change them any time from the dashboard.
Practice & lessons
Yes. The curriculum is a suggestion, not a gate. Practice will give you the problems, and the tutor and the lesson are there if you need them.
Some practice rounds pull in adjacent or pre-authored problems for variety, especially in topics where your interest doesn’t naturally apply, like abstract algebra. You can flag any problem and we’ll de-weight that pattern.

Ask the tutor. It knows what lesson and stage you’re on. If the lesson itself seems wrong rather than just hard, flag it; that goes straight to us. And you can always step away. There’s no streak, timer, or penalty for coming back tomorrow.
The AI tutor
Yes. It runs on Claude, and we don’t obscure that. What makes it useful is the context we give it (your placement, your interests, and what you’ve already done), so it doesn’t feel generic.
Occasionally, yes. Frontier models in 2026 are strong at math but not perfect. If you spot something off, tell it. It can recover. We also flag uncertainty when the model isn’t confident.
Yes. There’s an AI on/off toggle in your account menu. When it’s off you still get the full curriculum and Free Practice; the tutor and other Plus features simply go quiet.
Plans & billing
Free opens all ten phases at three lessons a day, with practice problems on every unit and five AI assists to try. Nummmbers Plus adds the AI tutor, the higher Teach Me This limit, and bespoke practice generated from your own examples. The Pricing page has the full breakdown.
On Plus, lessons and Free Practice have none. On Free, lessons are three a day. The AI features (the tutor, Teach Me This, and bespoke practice) come with generous monthly allowances, set well above what a person working through math by hand will reach. They’re there to keep scripts and bots in check, not learners. If you ever bump into one mid-session, email support@nummmbers.com and we’ll take a look.
$29 a month, or $228 a year. The annual plan works out to $19 a month. You can switch between monthly and annual at any time from your account.
Cancel from Account settings at any time. Your Plus access continues through the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and you won’t be charged again.
All sales are final. We don’t refund subscription fees. The Free tier gives you all ten phases at three lessons a day, so you can try the experience before subscribing. If you were billed in error (a duplicate charge, an accidental sign-up within 24 hours, or a billing bug), email support@nummmbers.com and we’ll fix it.
